Seymour SEPAC awards scholarships awarded to three graduates

Seymour Special Education Parents Advisory Council ak Seymour SEPAC recently awarded three scholarships to 2024 Seymour High School graduates.

Samantha Spangle, Macy Casner and Caden Harriss were each awarded a $500 scholarship.

Spangle will be entering Vincennes University in the fall and will major in law enforcement with plans to join the policy academy after graduating from Vincennes. Spangle’s activities and awards at Seymour High School include Owl of the Month at three different times from three different teachers, choir, Art Club, Pep Club and Good Works Club. Spangle has worked at Papa John’s and is currently a cashier at Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Casner plans to attend Purdue University with a desire to become a robotics warning coordination meteorologist, ASI and develop advanced technology notification systems. In high school Casner was active in National Honor Society, Latin Club, Owl Manufacturing, Seymour Marching Owls and Guard as a five-year member and senior captain, Special Olympics Unified school program, Hope Squad, the robotics team, Jackson County Clothing Center, Sweet Cheeks Pantry, 4-H and 4-H Junior Leaders, Mayor’s Youth Council and intern, Girl Scout Troop No. 1239 and Seymour Christian Church in the youth group, praise team and as a vacation Bible school leader.

Harriss will be attending Purdue University and will pursue a major in speech, language and hearing sciences. Harriss’s job experiences include working at the Shields’ Park pool and being a produce associate at Jay C Food Store. He is an Academic All-American and has served on the Mayor’s Youth Council. Other activities include being active in the Unified Track and Field, president of Seymour High School’s chapter of Best Buddies, the Owls swimming and diving team, National Honor Society, Junior Prom Committee, Pep Club, Latin Club, D.A.R.E., Boy Scouts, United States Forest Service volunteer, Day of Caring volunteer, National Wild Turkey Federation volunteer, community poll worker and athletic event volunteer.

Seymour SEPAC is a 501-C3 non-profit corporation and has awarded more than$27,000 in scholarships since 1990.
