County commissioners & council to meet this week

Jackson County Commissioners are set to meet this week for a regularly scheduled meeting at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St.

New business on the agenda includes approval of street closings for the annual car show in Vallonia and a discussion regarding an illegal dumping site in the Hemlock Bluff area. Also, Sue Loambarn will speak before the board on Thrive Alliance, a human services non-profit organization that provides housing, social and caregiving services to southern Indiana.

The Jackson County Council is also set to meet this week at 8 a.m. at the courthouse on Thursday instead of Wednesday on account of Juneteenth.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jeff Chalfant will speak before the council on pay for a new interpretor. Megan Cherry with Anchor House also will speak before the council, as well as former Seymour city councilman Bret Cunninghan and Director of the Jackson County Chamber Dan Robison.

Commissioner meetings and county council meetings are open to the public and the press.
