VALLONIA

Mark D. Tape, age 63, of Vallonia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mark had a strong faith, and he was a life-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, where he was baptized in Christ, confirmed in faith, and united in holy marriage to his wife, Judy. He held various church offices, including serving as Trustee and serving on the Cemetery Board.

Mark graduated from Lutheran Central School and was a 1979 graduate of Brownstown Central High School.

He began his working career as a farmhand for Charlie Stahl. He then worked for Doyle’s Construction and was a factory worker at Seymour Manufacturing for many years. As farming was Mark’s passion, he was a life-long grain farmer, working diligently alongside his brother, sons, and nephews, Connor Tape and Carter Tape. He loved being on the farm and spending time in the Tape farm shop with family, friends, and neighbors. He also had a love for operating his bulldozer and excavator and participating in and watching tractor pulls.

Mark was a dedicated first-class certified fireman with the Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department and a proud supporter of the fire department’s annual truck and tractor pull. He was an avid Purdue fan, Dale Earnhardt fan, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan, and he enjoyed watching Cincinnati Reds games.

Mark was loved beyond measure by his wife, Judy, children, and grandchildren, and he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family and friends were very important to Mark.

Born on March 1, 1961, in Seymour, Mark was the son of Harlen John Edward and Donna Vene (Wehmiller) Tape, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 24, 1982, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, he married Judith Wischmeier, and she survives in Vallonia.

Survivors also include two sons: Clinton (Erin) Tape of Vallonia, and Lance (Elizabeth) Tape of Seymour; one brother, Brian (Amy) Tape of Vallonia; six grandchildren: Sawyer Tape, Elaina Tape, Eloise Tape, Sullivan Tape, Parker Tape, and Pierson Tape; and mother-in-law, Norma Wischmeier of Brownstown.

Mark was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Marvin Wischmeier; and sister-in-law, Jane Meyer.
