Legal Aid Free Walk In Clinic June 6

Legal Aid plans to hold a Free Legal Aid Walk In Clinic for low-income residents from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the law office of Montgomery Elsner and Pardieck in Seymour.

From 3 to 4 p.m., individuals can receive advice about civil legal matters, including adoptions, advanced directives, family law (child support modification, custody, divorce, parenting time), guardianships, landlord/tenant (evictions, habitability issues), powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills and small estates.

From 4 to 5 p.m., individuals can receive regarding an eviction, including the residential eviction process, negotiating with your landlord, obtaining free rental assistance, legal defenses to an eviction, damages hearings and money judgments, and sealing of eviction records.

The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program uses local volunteer attorneys.

Individuals coming to clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general and eviction questions, offer legal information or to receive other limited pro se assistance or advice in person on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.
