FREETOWN

Sharon Jane (Pettay) Fleetwood, age 85, a native of Clearspring, Indiana and a resident of Freetown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Hoosier Christian Village. She was born on February 5, 1939 to the late William Pettay and the late Genevieve (Hodson) Collins. She was a 1957 graduate of Courtland High School and a member of Freetown Church of Christ for over 40 years where she loved to sing and assist in VBS. She married the love of her life and husband of 65 years, the late Rodger “Darrell” Fleetwood on October 27, 1957.

Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor and was very protective of her family. She loved motorcycles, especially riding all over the country with her husband Darrell. She was an excellent cook and was famous for her homemade yeast rolls. Above all, she loved her family and her joy was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Martin and her husband David of Freetown, Indiana. Two sons, Tim Fleetwood of Seymour, Indiana and Todd Fleetwood and his wife Tracy of Booneville, Indiana.

One brother, Tex Ridlen of Phoenix, Arizona. Two grandchildren, Carrie Butcher and her husband DJ of Columbus, Indiana and Stephanie Martin of Tampa, Florida. Three great grandchildren, Tyler Butcher, Andrew Butcher and Owen Butcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Keith Pettay and two sisters, Ellen Richards and Linda Oathout.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Freetown Church of Christ. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM with DJ Butcher officiating. She will be laid to rest at ACME Cemetery.
