Two Jackson County residents were arrested on multiple drug-related charges Thursday by police after investigating the theft of an outdoor security camera.

Travis R. Grigsby, 39, and Andrea Hurley, 39, both of Seymour, each face Level 5 felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine or narcotic drug; Level 6 felony charges of possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle and theft; and a Class A misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

The incident that led to the arrests of Grigsby and Hurley began when patrol officers responded to the 100 block of East 12th Street in reference to a report of theft of an outdoor security camera, police reported.

The suspects were observed on surveillance video. Also night shift officers had observed and made contact with two suspicious individuals in that area the night prior — however, no thefts had yet been reported at that time.

Police reported that Grigsby and Hurley were then identified before the crimes had even been reported.

After taking the theft report, officers soon located and detained Grigsby and Hurley on the east side of the city at which time drugs and paraphernalia were observed in plain view within the vehicle. During a subsequent search, officers recovered the stolen security camera.

Officers also located methamphetamine, Fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, scales, syringes and a large amount of U.S. currency.

All parties herein depicted or described are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law, police said.
