The Seymour Board of Public Works and Safety met for a regularly scheduled meeting Thursday morning at city hall.

Jordan Richart, who serves on the promotions committee for Seymour Main Street, sought approval for various Main Street events, all of which the board unanimously approved. They include the Scarecrow Stroll, Ghouls & Goblets Sip ‘n’ Stroll, downtown trick-or-treat and Jingle all the 5k.

Scarecrow Stroll is a family event held that can be enjoyed throughout the month of October starting Oct. 7. During the event, local units of government and local businesses display frightening scarecrows around downtown Seymour. Strollers vote on their favorite scarecrows using QR codes at each location and the winner receives a plaque.

The seventh annual Ghouls & Goblets Sip ‘n’ Stroll will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 in downtown Seymour. Attendees can sample beverages from Indiana wineries and breweries. Spooky stories and tales also are told to participants.

Downtown trick-or-treat will occur 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 this year.

Jingle All the 5k is set for 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 21. Proceeds from this annual walk/run benefits Seymour Main Street in their goal to promote, preserve and protect downtown Seymour.
