HBCA Honors Court

Crothersville had plenty of representation on the 2023-24 Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Honors Court. Requirements to be chosen is having a 3.2 GPA.

The Lady Tigers had seven girls on the team. Brooklyn Bottorff, Jazlin Gibson, Isabella Riley, Hali Burton, Kelsie Walker, Joshalyn Luenebrink and Hayden Pilgrim.

The boys team also had seven players on the list. Dirk Crater, Elijah Plasse, Baron Riley, Brayden Heath, Jude Howard, Lucas Hilton, Corey Reynolds, and Evan Lanning.

Brownstown State Final Tickets

Tickets for the 2023-24 State Finals are available for purchase at Ticketmaster. Price of admission is $15 and seats will be numbered, unlike other high school games. Brownstown Central will face Wapahani at 12:45 p.m. Tickets are sold in sessions. You need to buy a first session ticket for the 1A and 2A championship games.

HHC All-Conference

Hoosier Hills Conference selections were announced on Tuesdsay. Seymour had two players on the 2023-24 team after winning a share of their first boys’ basketball conference title in school history. The Owls finished 5-1 in the HHC with their only loss coming to New Albany in overtime.

Jaylan Johnson and Brady Harpe represented Seymour on the HHC First Team. They both averaged more than 10 points a game and led Seymour to an 18-5 season. Their most wins in a season since the 2004-05 team won 16 games.

Seymour fell to Jeffersonville in the sectional 45-27. Jeffersonville went on to win the regional title, and fell to Ben Davis by one point in the semistate final last weekend at New Castle.

Both players will be back for their senior season next year for the Owls.

Seymour’s Jackson wins RSC Golfer of the Week

Lainey Jackson, a Seymour high-school graduate was honored for her athletic excellence at the next level this week. Jackson who golfs for IU East, was selected as the River States Conference Golfer of The Week.

Jackson competed in the LTU Spring Break Invitational, shooting an 83 and an 81 in her performance. The tournament took place at Grand National Golf Club in Opelika, Alabama. Jackson shot nothing worse than a bogey in both of her rounds to lead the Red Wolves.

IU East will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2nd when they compete in The Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout. That event will take place at the Johnson City Country Club.
