Easter events start soon

Easter is March 31 and events to celebrate have been scheduled

March 16

11 a.m.: Brownstown First Baptist Church, 1095 S. State Road 135. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. Prize baskets for each group.

2 to 4 p.m.: “Easter Egg Hunt for the Dogs!” at Doggy Haven, 3025 N Co. Rd. 650 W, Brownstown, featuring prize giveaways, pet products for sale and music. Dogs must be on a leash and up to date on vaccinations.

March 23

10 a.m.: Free community Easter egg hunt for children up to age 12 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St., Seymour.

Vallonia

11 a.m. Starve Hollow State Recreation Area Happy Easter Party featuring crafts, bird talks. Age 3 and under to ages 8-12. 16- and 24-inch prize bikes. Information: 812-358-3464

March 30

Brownstown

10 to 11 a.m.: Hoosier Christian Village. Ages 0-12. One grand prize winning egg for each age group.

11 a.m.: Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s annual Easter egg hunt in the field next to the Jackson County Jail, 150 E. State Road 250, Brownstown. There will be 8,000 filled eggs, prizes, bikes for each age group (0 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12) and an appearance by the Easter bunny.

2 p.m.: The fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt “Presented by Freedom Fireworks” on the lawn of the Jackson County Courthouse. Age groups: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. First 200 kids will receive free gifts from Easter Bunny, drawing for adults in attendance. There will be free face painting, Easter egg buckets for anyone who needs one and food vendors will be ready to serve at 11 a.m.

 

Freetown

11 a.m.: A community Easter egg hunt is set for Freetown Community Church, 6811 N. Glendenning St.

11 a.m.: Freetown Church of Christ’s annual Easter egg hunt for infants through children in fifth grader will be held with a lunch. The meal is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. The church is at 7077 N. State Road 135. For information call the church at 812-497-2971.

Seymour

10 a.m.: Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County and the Judd family are partnering for the third year for the Tom Judd Memorial Eggstra Special Easter Egg Hunt for children and adults with special needs at the playground at Emerson Elementary School, 500 Emerson Drive, Seymour. Ages 0 to 10 at 10 a.m. and ages 11 and up at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be given out, and the Easter bunny, Flash the miniature therapy horse and other special guests will make an appearance. Bring your own basket.
