Clara (Anderson) Claycamp passed away surrounded by her family on March 2, 2024. She was born April 28, 1940, to Ralph and Ruby (Lutes) Anderson. On May 31, 1959 she married Dean Claycamp who preceded her in death on September 15, 2014.

Clara graduated from Cortland High School in 1958 where she fostered many lifelong friendships that she maintained through today. She was a graduate of Indiana Business College. In 1998 she ran and was elected as Bartholomew County Assessor serving for 4 years. Prior to serving as an elected official, she served in the County Clerk’s office as a Deputy Clerk and was involved in Bartholomew County Democrat Ladies for many years. Her long work career also included the Bartholomew County Extension office, Irwin Union Bank, Reliance Electric, and Cummins Engine company. She also farmed with her husband and was the designated combine operator during fall harvest. She was a 4-H leader and also served with her husband in the Bartholomew County Pork Producers Association.

Her heart was happiest in the company of family, especially at their cherished retreat, Whipporwill Lake, where many days were spent camping with friends and weekends with family. She and Dean discovered clogging and square dancing once they became empty nesters fostering many friendships across the years. She especially enjoyed spending many evenings playing cards – predominately Euchre – with her friend Vivian and several other close friends. She was responsible for teaching all of her grandchildren how to play many different card games. She never missed an opportunity to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities.

Clara was a member of White Creek Lutheran Church, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. She is survived by her children Linda (Dana) Reedy, Barb (Matt) Robertson, Dave (Tammy) Claycamp, a nephew that she raised Bob (Sally) Anderson, one sister, Carol Nichalson, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 39 nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed a personal relationship with each and everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Donna Heiman, Dorothy Crouch, Jim Anderson, Jack Anderson, Emma Sorley, Roy Anderson, and Robert Anderson.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 6 from 4-8 p.m. at Voss and Sons, Seymour, Indiana and on Thursday, March 7 from 10-11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek with service and burial immediately following.
