Froedge honored for joining 1,000-point club

Trinity Lutheran girls basketball senior Liza Froedge was honored Saturday night for joining the 1,000-point club.

The celebration of the achievement took place at the Cougars’ boys basketball game with Madison.

Froedge broke the 1,000-point threshold in the sectional opener against Medora. She ended up with 20 points in that game to lead all scorers. The Cougars went on to win their sectional title for the fifth straight time.

Brownstown boys basketball sectional tickets

Tickets for the boys basketball sectional at Southwestern (Hanover) can be purchased digitally. Tickets are $7 or $15 for the entire session. Tickets will also be available at the door. Brownstown Central plays the second game on Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. against Henryville.

ILSAA State Tournament

Jackson County has plenty of representation in the 2024 ILSAA State Tournament.

Lutheran Central in Brownstown kicks off the action at 5 p.m. Friday. They face off with Emmanuel St. Michael of Fort Wayne at Central Lutheran Grade Schools in New Haven.

Immanuel Lutheran made it on the boys and girls sides. The boys are facing Trinity (Elkhart) at Central Lutheran Grade Schools at 8:45 p.m. The girls will take place beforehand against Central New Haven at the same place. Start is expected to be at 7:30 p.m.

St. John’s Sauers also is playing in both tournaments. The boys will face Concordia (Fort Wayne) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The girls play the next game at the same place against St. Paul’s Fort Wayne.

Both of these games take place at Concordia Lutheran Grade School. Tipoff for this matchup is expected to be around 8:45 p.m.
