Park Theatre to host musical with songs from blockbuster films

NORTH VERNON — The enchanting music of Hollywood is coming to North Vernon in a big way next month.

“Hollywood A Musical Revue,” a live show spotlighting local talent performing songs from some of the most popular blockbusters of all time, will be presented at Park Theatre Civic Centre at 7 p.m. March 1 and 3 p.m. March 3.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Park Theatre box office, 25 N. Madison Ave., North Vernon. Cash and checks only are accepted.

The box office is open from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. If tickets are still available, they also will be sold at the door before each show.

A cast of more than 50 adults, teenagers and kids will perform tunes from such classic films as “The Greatest Showman,” “Singing in the Rain,” “Oklahoma,” “Rio Bravo,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “West Side Story,” “Mary Poppins,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Grease,” “9 to 5,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Back to the Future,” “Dirty Dancing,” “Beaches,” “The Lion King,” “Toy Story,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” “School of Rock,” “Matilda” and more.

The cast includes a group of stage veterans and newcomers, including Dave George, Rachel Rodriguez, Paul Keller, Franny Hall, Stan Cool, Leslie Dixon, Wes Bradshaw, Heather Howard, Stephen Blankenbeker, Kristina Charlton, Andrew Rodriguez, Shawn Carlton, Sarah Dillon, Al Davisson and Leonard “Boogie” Collett.

Teenagers and youngsters from the recent Park Theatre shows of “Elf the Musical,” “Broadway Revue” and “Wizard of Oz” as well as several kids from neighboring community theater groups will be participating, too.

Oakridge Studios of Rachel and Andrew Rodriguez together are bringing videography and musical accompaniment while directing the cast to bring out the best in each song. Dave and Jenn George will be adding lighting to enhance the music experience.
