Library announces March programs for teens and adults

The Jackson County Public Library is offering free programs for adults and teens in March.

Free programs for adults ages 18 and older:

  • True Crime Club is at 5 p.m. March 11 with registration required by March 7 and a limit of 20 people. Case file information will be emailed to registered attendees in advance.
  • Gardening for Pollinators is at 2 p.m. March 26 with registration required by March 22 and a limit of 15 people. Volunteer Purdue Extension Master Gardener Trina Roark will lead the presentation on how to attract pollinators with Indiana native plants.
  • Constellations Coasters will be offered at three library locations. Interested adults will celebrate the April 8 solar eclipse by painting constellations on coasters. Crothersville is at 2 p.m. March 13 with registration required by March 11 and a limit of 10 people. Medora is at 2 p.m. March 14 with registration required by March 12 and a limit of 10 people. Seymour is at 2 p.m. March 15 with registration required by March 13 and a limit of 15 people.

Free programs for teens in grades 6 to 12:

  • Short Story Writing Workshop is at 5 p.m. March 5, April 2 and May 7. Registered teens will write their own short story. Registration is required by March 1, March 29 and May 3 with a limit of 15 teens per session.
  • Drop-In Glow-in-the-Dark Painting during spring break from 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. March 20 through March 22 while supplies last.
  • Dorm Room Dish is at 5 p.m. March 26 with registration required by March 22 and a limit of 15 teens who will learn how to make galaxy popcorn.

The library is offering one program for both adults and teens ages 13 and older:

  • Preparing for the Solar Eclipse is at 1 p.m. March 23 or March 30 with registration required by March 21 or March 28 and a limit of 70 people per session. Indiana Astronomical Society eclipse committee member Rick Galloway will teach attendees what an eclipse is, why it happens, how to safely view one and more.

People attending library programs in March and early April will receive a free pair of solar eclipse glasses at the end of each program while supplies last.
