Catherine A. Mantz, 75, of Seymour, passed away at 11:47 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center.

Catherine was born on February 25, 1948, in Seymour, to the late Joseph (Joe) Eli Shirley &Francis Young Shirley Huls. She was a 1966 graduate of Brownstown High School. She married George Llyod Mantz on August 6, 1966, in Tampico, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2000.

Catherine was a Collector at National City Bank &Home Federal and ran the office at George’s of Seymour. She enjoyed singing &playing the piano, camping on the river and traveling with her late husband, working with her flowers &ferns, yearly trips with her sisters, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 children: Kellie Gardener &George W. (Nikki) Mantz both of Seymour; grandchildren: Chris &Courtney Cooper, &Cassidy (Jordan) Mantz Schoenfelder; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Maribell Hickerson &Janet Lewis both of Crothersville, Jean Stark of Brownstown, &Sherry Shirley of Chicago.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers: Joe Shirley, Jr, Everett Leon Shirley, Erman Shirley, Richard Shirley, Roy &Ray Shirley; 2 sisters: Ida Marie Morgan &Margarette Boas; &one grandson, George Tyler Mantz.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery.
