Brownstown boys basketball

The Braves game scheduled with New Albany has been moved to Feb. 20. It will be like a regular scheduled game with JV starting at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow.

Brownstown Central will have one game before this matchup as it face offs with Eastern (Pekin) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. That game will take place at Eastern with the Braves seeking their 19th win of the season and 10th consecutive.

Brownstown semistate tickets

The Lady Braves are facing off in semistate on Saturday at Shelbyville High School at 10 a.m. Brownstown will play Linton-Stockton. Afterwards, Eastern Hancock faces Sheridan at noon.

Braves fans should enter gates C7 or D5.

Middle school basketball

The Crothersville Tigers eighth grade boys basketball team took care of business on Saturday at the Eastern (Pekin) Invitational. Crothersville secured the top spot in the tournament, going 3-0 on the weekend to take the crown. They picked up their 19th win of the 2023-24 season.

HHC girls basketball selections

The 2023-24 Hoosier Hills Conference girls basketball selections were announced this week with Seymour getting multiple nods.

Kendall Sterling and Journee Brown were the catalysts for the Lady Owls all season long, and they were honored, being selected to the all-HHC first team for their performances this season.

Sterling and Brown both averaged double-digits in scoring all season with Brown averaging 14.5 ppg and Sterling scoring 13.7 ppg. Brown scored 20 or more points in five games this season, including her 27-point performance against Center Grove on Jan. 12 and 26 points against Columbus East on Jan. 4.

Sterling also eclipsed that 20-point threshold five times. Her highest scoring performance of the season came against North Harrison when she scored 24 points in a 64-48 win on Jan. 6. She also joined Seymour’s 1,000-point club during that game.

Sophie Skidmore was selected HHC honorable mention for her impact on the floor.

She scored 10 or more points in eight games with her biggest performance taking place against New Albany, where she scored 18 points in the 79-50 win over the Bulldogs on Jan. 25.
