Seymour

Jesus Aguilar continued his wrestling postseason for Seymour with the semistate meet on Saturday at Ford Center in Evansville.

It wouldn’t go in his favor, as he dropped his opening match to Tyson Ruhe of Jasper in the first period by fall. Aguilar wrapped up his senior season with an impressive 35-10 record.

It was the final match of his Seymour wrestling career.

Crothersville

The Tigers competed in two games over the weekend on the road.

On Friday night, they traveled to face Seven Oaks, dominating the 1-17 Firehawks 81-26. Adam Turner and Beau Napier both scored 12 points to lead the Tigers.

On Saturday, they faced off with Columbus Christian in a close battle. Crothersville fell to the Crusaders 59-52. The Tigers made it interesting after falling behind by nine points at the end of the first quarter, outscoring Columbus 38-26 in the second and third quarters.

Crothersville even took the lead after the third quarter at 45-42. Columbus then used a 17-10 fourth quarter to steal the win from the Tigers.

Peyton Walden was critical for the Crusaders, scoring 20 points to lead the team, while Branson Carr added 17 in the win.

Crothersville will host Henryville in its next game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Medora

The Hornets had a big weekend, picking up two victories on Friday and Saturday to improve to 8-11 on the 2023-24 season.

Medora downed Providence Cristo Rey by 13 points before eking out a narrow three-point victory over Christian Academy of Madison.

In the game with Providence Cristo Rey, Damian Salas and Hudson Johnson led the way with 15 points apiece for Medora, and Jaxon Nugen scored nine points.

Salas had a bigger night on Saturday with 17 points for Medora. Kade Wright added 12 with Johnson and Kacie Inscoe both scoring five. The other basket from the Hornets came from Dawson Cornett.

The Hornets will now focus on Martinsville Tabernacle on Friday, traveling to face the Eagles at 6 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars were back in action Friday evening against Christian Academy of Indiana. Trinity would fight until the end but dropped the game against the Warriors 66-53.

David Cook had his way during the game, scoring 19 points for CAI on 7-of-8 from the field. Hudson Lang scored 13 points to lead Trinity with Levi Pottschmidt and Kowan Gross adding 12 in the game. Reed Mellencamp scored nine for the Cougars.

The loss puts Trinity at 8-10 on the season, facing Lanesville in their next game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The game will take place at Lanesville High School.
