Sheriff releases monthly report for January

Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department investigated 77 wrecks and 711 offenses in January, according to Sheriff Rick Meyer’s monthly report.

They also were involved in two water rescues and issued five traffic warnings and six citations. Other statistics show county dispatchers received 1,367 911 calls, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel had 536 runs and volunteer fire departments made 280 runs.

The average daily inmate count in January at the jail was 172 with a high of 183 and a low of 162. There were 185, arrests including 125 males and 60 females. There were seven juvenile arrests.

The department also received $27,975 from the Indiana Department of Correction for inmates sentenced to jail and billed the state $13,050 for January.
