SHS choral program sending 15 events to State Solo & Ensemble Festival

Seymour High School student-musicians participated in the Indiana State School Music Association Vocal/Piano District Solo & Ensemble Festival this past weekend at Floyd Central High School.

Eleven vocal soloists, two piano soloists and two vocal ensembles will now prepare for State Solo & Ensemble Festival on Feb. 17 at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis. The total of 15 vocal and piano events at state is the most in SHS choral program history, Director of Choral Music Kyle Karum said.

Gold ratings with advancement to state are Katie Cottrill, Rayna Murphy, Isabel Maschino, Aleia Findley, Della Jones, Gabriella Parisi, Lyndsey Greenawalt, Joel Stevens, Alexis Stuckwisch, Blythe Brummett (vocal), Micah Yee (perfect score in piano), Kelly Beavers, Leonel Jimenez, the Massengale Septet and the SHS Chamber Choir.

More gold ratings were Micah Yee (vocal), Isabelle Canlas, Lauren Brown, Blythe Brummett (piano) and Bridget Deaton.

Silver ratings were the Croquart Trio, Victoria Billingsley, Elise Hartung, Alyssa Cassell and Owen Lauster.
