NORTH VERNON

Edith Marie Wood, 91, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:07 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born February 12, 1932, in Madison, she was the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Edith Chloe (Waters) Kidwell. She married Donald “Don” Raymond Wood on March 6, 1952, in Madison; he preceded her in death on July 2, 2021.

Marie was a 1951 graduate of Madison High School and worked for Don Wood Mechanical in North Vernon. She was a member of card clubs in Jennings County. Marie enjoyed playing euchre, decorating cakes and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Terry (Julie) Wood of North Vernon; daughter, Nancy (Jack) Brooks of North Vernon; grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Brooks of North Vernon, Pamela (Brad) Stuckwisch of Seymour, and Dr. Katie (Brice) McPherson of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Alexis Stuckwisch and Taylor Stuckwisch, both of Seymour, Riley and Allie Brooks, both of North Vernon, and James Rowen McPherson and Gus Maddox McPherson, both of Nashville, Tennessee; and her Lutheran Community Home Family who took such good care of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and grandson, Jeremy Dee Wood.

A funeral service for Marie will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Marie through the funeral home to The Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
