Medora

The Hornets competed all the way to the end in the Southern Roads Conference tournament on Saturday, falling in the final to Pleasant View 55-44.

The boys defeated Cannelton by 59 points on Friday before defeating Columbus Christian on Saturday morning 68-53 to advance to the final.

Dawson Cornett had a huge performance against Columbus Christian, scoring 20 points to lead all scorers. Jaxon Nugen followed with 15, while Hudson Johnson added 12, and Kade Wright scored 10. The team was down 27-23 at halftime, roaring back to outscore their opponent 45-26 in the second half to secure the win.

The final with Pleasant View was close, but the Bulldogs took the game. Nugen led the Hornets in scoring with 16, Damian Salas followed with nine, Wright added eight and Cornett scored five.

On Tuesday, the Hornets hosted West Washington, falling in the matchup 66-35. Medora will now host Crothersville on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Seymour

The Owls grabbed their 11th victory of the season on Saturday evening on the road at Columbus East, hanging on in overtime to defeat the Olympians 59-56.

Brady Harpe’s 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in the extra period gave Seymour a Hoosier Hills Conference victory. Harpe finished with 16 points to lead Seymour. Michael Brooks and Jaylan Johnson each added 14.

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves pulled out an impressive double-overtime win on Saturday against Rock Creek Academy. Brownstown battled for six quarters with the Lions, pulling out the 85-80 win.

Harley Toppe hit six three-pointers for the Braves, leading in scoring with 20 points. Jenna Klosterman added 19, and Sophie Wischmeier was right behind with 18 points.

The Braves then battled Bloomington North on Tuesday evening, dropping a close one with the Cougars 46-42. The JV team picked up a 14-point win, defeating North 29-15.

Brownstown Central will now host West Washington on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Lady Owls traveled down to Jeffersonville on Tuesday evening for a battle with the Red Devils. Seymour fell to their Hoosier Hills Conference foe by six points in a 54-48 loss.

The Owls fall to 9-10 on the season and will now travel to Franklin on Thursday for a matchup at 7:30 p.m. The Grizzly Cubs are sitting at 17-2 on the season and are one of the top teams in Class 4A.
