National Weather Service issues special statement

There is a potential for snow squalls mainly this afternoon and evening and east of Interstate 65 in Indiana with highest likelihood in the Muncie and Winchester areas, according to a special statement from the National Weather Service.

Scattered to numerous snow showers are expected to develop today as an Arctic front sweeps through. The falling temperatures, strong wind gusts up to 40 mph and lake enhancement will result in the potential for the development of snow squalls and periods of
blowing snow, especially this afternoon and evening and over northeastern sections.

Outside of squalls, snow showers and strong winds may cause spotty travel difficulties, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Those planning to travel across central Indiana Monday should monitor forecasts and be prepared for rapidly changing travel conditions.
