A traffic stop shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday by an Indiana State Police trooper on Interstate 65 just south of Seymour led to the arrests of three men from Kentucky and the recovery of a large amount of suspected fentanyl, police report.

Alonzo Lee Dixon, 28, Landon Wallace Pearl, 18, and Devon Tyler Peach, 30, all of Louisville, each face a preliminary charge of dealing cocaine or a narcotic drug after the stop near the 48 mile marker, according to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

The incident that led to their arrests started when Trooper Randel Miller conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet passenger car being driven north on I-65 by Pearl, said Wheeles, who is the public information officer for the Versailles Post.

During the stop, Miller determined the three males in the car might be in possession of illegal drugs, Wheeles said.

Dixon, who was a passenger in the back seat of the car, fled from Miller across all lanes of the interstate before being caught by Jennings County Sheriff’s Department Officer Max Marcoux and an off-duty Clark County Sheriff’s Department officer.

During a search of the car, officers found a bag suspected of containing nearly 200 pills believed to contain fentanyl, Wheeles said.

Pearl was found to have additional pills containing a controlled substance on his person and faces additional charges of possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, Wheeles said.

Peach was found to be wanted on a parole warrant out of Kentucky and faces an additional felony charge of neglect of a dependent due to an eight-month-old juvenile being in the vehicle, Wheeles said.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene to take the child into their custody, Wheeles said.

Dixon was additionally arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement.

All three men were arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown. They are being held without bond pending their initial appearances in Jackson Circuit Court in Brownstown.

Miller was assisted by troopers from the Indiana State Police Versailles Post, officers with the Seymour Police Department, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Department and a U.S. Fish and Wildlife officer.
