Pastor Vanters “Van” Breeding, age 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone, closed his eyes on this earth and opened them in the presence of the One he had preached about for over 25 years on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1940 to the late James Breeding and the late Vina (Caudill) Breeding. He was a native of Isom, KY and a resident of Seymour, Indiana. Vanters and his beloved wife Judy were the founding members of Mountain Baptist Church in Seymour Indiana and served as Pastor from September 2000 until 2020 when due to declining health, sold the church. Following retirement from Pastoring, Van and Judy became faithful members of Victory Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loved and cherished employee of Christensen Family Funeral Home and served faithfully as the greeter at the door, always ready to help in any way that he could to serve people. Van was an ordained minister for over 20 years, having preached in many churches and performing numerous weddings and funerals. He and Judy were clowns for several years and performed in local facilities such as nursing homes and hospitals. Van loved reading the Bible and caring for others. Van always had a ready smile and cheerful attitude towards everyone.

Van is survived by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Judith (Caudill) Breeding of Seymour, Indiana and one son, James Breeding and his wife Callie of Brownstown, Indiana. One sister, Oma Sexton of Bonita Springs, Florida and one grandson, Cody Breeding and his wife Annelise of Augusta, Maine.

He is also survived by his extended family that he loved as his own kids and grandkids, the Christensen Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Breeding, Venson Breeding and Ernest Breeding.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Seymour Chapel. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 AM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Seymour Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
