A Medora organization received a $400 check from the Jackson County Visitor Center on Wednesday afternoon for the purpose of promoting its upcoming event.

Arann Banks, executive director of the visitor center, presented the check to Jeremy Wetzel, a member of the Medora Christmas Festival committee.

The festival and parade are sponsored by Medora civic and conservation clubs.

Promotional grants are available throughout the year for nonprofit groups to be used for websites or general brochures or to purchase advertising for an event. Those grants are discussed and approved during the visitor center’s monthly meeting held at noon on the third Wednesday of the month.

The Medora Christmas Festival always takes place on the first Saturday of December.

“You all are just a dedicated community having this event no matter what the weather holds,” Banks said. “We appreciate all that you do.”
