BROWNSTOWN

Robert “Bob” Carr, 78, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on August 5, 1944, in Seymour, Indiana. He was born to the late Howard Clay and Minnie Anna (Ellis) Carr. On August 7, 1966, he married Georgetta Capes, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, Indiana and she survives.

In addition to his wife Georgetta, his survivors to carry on his remembrance are his daughter Roxanna “Roxy” Hunsucker of Brownstown; two grandchildren, Hanna Hunsucker (Blake Furlow) of Brownstown and Kaleb Dyer of Fishers, Indiana, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Willard Neal Carr, Glenn Leroy Carr, Charles Elmer Carr, and George Donald Carr; and one sister, Thelma Joan Andrew.

During high school, Bob worked at Robertson Feed Store in Seymour, as a truck driver. He graduated from North Vernon High School, in 1963. After graduating from high school, he was drafted in the United States Army. He did his training at Fort Knox, and Boot Camp in Biloxi, Michigan as the 34th NORAD Divisions Air Defense. He was in the Air Defense School in Mississippi. He fought in Vietnam in August of 1966, and was in the 541st Transportation in July of 1967. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, Bob went on to work at Thompson Dairy, where he worked as a milkman for 23 years. He later went on to work with the City of Brownstown in the Street Department for 15 years, where he retired from. He also owned a craft shop called Pappie &Me. He would set up at several craft shows and attended the Fort Vallonia Days for 30 plus years.

In his free time Bob enjoyed fishing, woodworking, being outside with a cup of instant hot coffee, mowing his grass, and riding his Polaris with his wife Georgetta. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Dale Earnhardt fan. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially when he was playing a round of euchre or other card games, stealing everyone’s money. He was a member of Mount Zion Church of Jackson County, where he served on many boards, such as the Cluster Group Director of the church.

Visitation will be held at Voss &Sons Funeral Service on November 18, 2023, from 11am until the time of service at 3pm. An inurnment service will follow at Hayden Cemetery with full Military honors presented by American Legion Post #89 and VFW Post #1925.
