The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department’s Christmas Lights Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in downtown Seymour.

There is no cost to enter, but registration must be done by Dec. 8 by calling 812-522-6420 or visiting seymourin.recdesk.com/community/program.

All entries must have lights. No animals or Santas are allowed, and candy cannot be thrown.

Participants should be in line by 5 p.m. Staging will be in the Robertson Feed Mill, Walnut Street and Jackson County Public Library parking lots.

The parade route will follow North Chestnut Street, Fifth Street and Indianapolis Avenue.

After the parade, there will be games and activities for kids and the Fraternal Order of Police Donald M. Winn Lodge 108 will have free hot chocolate in the B&O Railroad Parking Lot behind the Knights of Columbus. People also can watch the fireworks show from there.

Also participating in the parade will be the Southern Indiana Truck Convoy. The organization is looking for semis (bobtails only), dump trucks, utility trucks, firetrucks and any others that have a Department of Transportation number to participate.

The cost is $30 per truck and includes a swag bag. Sponsorship opportunities of $100, $250, $500 and $1,000 also are available. To preregister or be a sponsor, call 812-621-3067.

Proceeds will benefit The Arc of Jackson County, a nonprofit organization that advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

There also will be a food truck set up, and people are encouraged to bring personal hygiene items, games, nonperishable food, school supplies, arts and crafts items, twin size sheets, comforters and blankets, dish towels and bath towels, which will be given to The Arc clients year-round.
