Prange named to Seymour High School Wall of Fame

The Seymour High School Wall of Fame committee has announced the induction of Gregory V. Prange, SHS principal and alumnus.

Prange has dedicated nearly 40 years of service to SHS and its students. He began his career there in 1984 as a science teacher and assistant football and basketball coach. He began serving SHS as an assistant principal in 1999 and was named principal in 2006.

Under his leadership, SHS has maintained its reputation for excellence in graduation rates, dual credit course offerings and college and career opportunities for students, said Steve Bush, chairman of the Wall of Fame committee and assistant principal at SHS.

“Greg Prange is the heart and soul of Seymour High School,” Bush said in a news release issued Friday. “He has given so much of himself to SHS, his second family, over the years. His passion for education, community and his caring nature have shaped the lives of thousands of students, staff members and families.”

Bush said Prange was unanimously elected by the committee to be inducted into the Wall of Fame upon his retirement.

“We are saddened that day has arrived but thrilled to honor him among the Seymour greats,” Bush said.

Friends of Prange have organized an open house to celebrate his induction and his upcoming retirement. The open house will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 4 at Knights of Columbus Council 1252, 118 E. Second St., Seymour. Friends, family and community members are invited to attend and share memories, well wishes and words of thanks with Prange.

The Seymour High School Wall of Fame was established in 1996 to recognize outstanding alumni and celebrate their achievements and contributions to the school and community. The Wall of Fame also serves to inspire current students to pursue excellence.

The next Wall of Fame class is scheduled to be inducted in the fall of 2026. Nominations will be accepted by the committee beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
