Scottsburg man arrested for child molestation

A 62 year-old Scottsburg man faces two counts of child molesting after having alleged inappropriate contact with two underage victims approximately 19 to 20 years ago, police report.

William J. Gasser of Scottsburg was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday on two Class A felony charges of child molesting.

According to a news release from Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster, the investigation began Sept. 27 when patrol officers and investigators with department started an investigation involving allegations a man had inappropriate sexual contact with two underage victims approximately 19 to 20 years ago while the parties involved lived in Jackson County.

Gasser was interviewed by investigators and admitted to the inappropriate sexual contact and was arrested and taken to the jail, Foster said.

A Class A felony in Indiana carries a penalty of 20 to 40 years with an advisory sentence of 30 years in prison.
