Seymour school board meets tonight

The Seymour Community School Corp. board of education will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

The meeting will include the consent agenda, communications and recognitions, donations and grants and an update on school construction projects.

Shawn Mahoney plans to talk about a $50,000 grant offered by the Indiana Department of Education and funded by the K-12 Robotics Competition Grant that was granted to Seymour Community Schools to support the robotics club and competitions.

There will be action items concerning the 2023-2025 master contract with the Seymour Education Association, administrator contracts, substitute teacher pay rates, classified salary schedule case step, policy updates, a memorandum of understanding regarding the foster grandparents program, a request to bring Kids Klub to Seymour Intermediate School and a discussion on corporation health insurance.

First read items include the 2024-2026 school calendars, the 2024 Everside Health Clinic renewal, a request to advertise for bus replacements and introduction of 2024 school board meeting dates.

This meeting is open to the public and press.

Board members also plan to meet in executive session, closed to the public and press, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss an individual’s status as an employee, student or an independent contractor and discussion of strategy with respect to collective bargaining.
