Janet L. Cooper, 69, of Seymour passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Covered Bridge Healthcare in Seymour. She was born on October 19, 1953, in Columbus, IN the daughter of Lawrence and Velma Ruth (Willoughby) Sprague. On April 1, 1972, she married David Cooper in Jonesville, IN and he survives.

In addition to her husband David, Janet is survived by two grandchildren, Devin Wayne McQueary, and Jessi Hampton (Fianc? Jared Whipker); mother, Velma Ruth Sprague; two brothers, Mark (Pauline) Sprague, and Danny (Paula) Sprague; sister, Rose Shaw; and one great grand daughter, Paisley Hampton. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Sprague; one daughter, Sarah Cooper; and a grandson, Jaycob Hampton.

Janet was a 1971 graduate of Columbus High School. After graduating high school, she went on to get her bachelor’s degree from Wesylan University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Janet was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Jonesville, IN. She was a former employee with Arvin Industries of Columbus, IN where she worked as an administrator. In her free time Janet enjoyed basket weaving, painting, and cooking, especially for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Most of all she loved the time that she was able to spend with her grandkids who were her heart and soul.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:30PM, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Voss and Sons Funeral &Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Funeral services will follow at 7:30PM at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Jung officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jonesville.

Memorial contributions in memory of Janet may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Education Fund.
