Boys tennis

Seymour

The Owls were back in action Tuesday night, hosting Jennings County. Seymour defeated the Panthers 3-2.

Owls No. 1 Parker Thompson was defeated by Parker Bales 6-7 (1-7), 5-7. Seymour won the second match behind Carter Stein, who faced Isaac Lightner, sweeping the sets 6-0, 6-0. The third match also went to the Owls. Joel Stevens downed Rider Ruddick 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, the teams split the two matches with Jennings County winning the first and Seymour taking the second. Ryan Schuck and Ty Zohrlant defeated Shun Takeuchi and Braylon Busby 1-6, 6-7, (0-7). Drew Handloser and Xavier DuBois faced off with Cole Skinner and Brady Sentz, winning 6-4,6-3.

Seymour will host Columbus East on Thursday at 5 p.m. before preparing for the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Monday at Floyd Central High School. That contest will take place at 5 p.m.

Boys soccer

Seymour

The Seymour boys soccer team traveled south to Floyd Central on Tuesday, competing with the Highlanders, losing the match 4-0.

Owls goalkeeper Lance Hubbard racked up 10 saves in the net for Seymour.

The guys will travel to Madison on Thursday with varsity at 7 p.m. with JV at 5:30 p.m. Seymour falls to 4-5-1 on the season and 2-2 in the Hoosier Hills Conference.

The JV team also dropped its match 2-0, falling to 4-6 on the 2023 campaign.

Girls soccer

Seymour

The Owls soccer team hosted Floyd Central on Tuesday after falling to Silver Creek on Saturday by three. The game would result in a 1-1 tie.

Seymour sophomore Katy Roark scored the goal for the Owls, assisted by Rachel Lenart. Amelia Kaml of Floyd Central scored their goal, assisted by Cassie Oliver.

Senior Elizabeth Trueblood was in the goal for Seymour, racking up eight saves in the tie. The Owls are 2-8-1 and 0-2-1 in the Hoosier Hills Conference, now prepping to host Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday at 6 p.m. Seymour will face South Dearborn on Saturday at 10 a.m.
