The Jackson County Soil & Water Conservation District invites the public to participate in its annual Locally Led Working Group meeting.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 26 at the USDA Service Center, 1350 Woodside Drive, Brownstown. Refreshments will be served.

The purpose of the group is to provide input on the wide range of natural resource and agricultural resource concerns for Jackson County. The group provides recommendations on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs, including the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Clean Water Indiana grants, etc.

This year, the group also will discuss how well Indiana’s current technical information and programs address the local resource concerns. It is important that the group consists of representatives who will provide input into the wide range of natural resource and agricultural concerns for the county, and the district feels local land users would provide valuable input concerning our natural resources.

The ranking sheet will have categories with resource concerns for each category. You will be asked to rank your top 10 concerns from 1 to 10 with 1 being your most important concern. There will be an example situation and example ranking sheet to show you how it should be done.

To register for the meeting or request a ranking sheet to fill out, call 812-358-2367, ext. 3, stop by the office in Brownstown or email [email protected]. Ranking sheets can be dropped off at the office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., mailed to the office at 1350 Woodside Drive, Brownstown, IN 47220 with a postmark no later than Sept. 30 or emailed by Sept. 30.
