National Voter Registration Day event planned at library

The Jackson County Public Library and the Jackson County Clerk’s office are partnering for National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 19.

Jackson County Clerk Piper Acton will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Seymour Library at 303 W. Second St,. to assist people with registration or to answer questions about their current registration status.

To register, people must be U.S. citizens, present a driver’s license or state identification card and be 18 by the next Election Day (Nov. 7). Registration forms are available at all Jackson County Public Library locations or on the library website at myjclibrary. org/vote/.

Started in 2012 for the presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right — the right to vote.

Americans can register at hundreds of events across the nation and online at www. NationalVoterRegistrationDay. org, which is a non-partisan group website. Online registration also is available at https://indianavoters.in. gov/ .
