The Brownstown Central High School Class of 1968 gathers for its 55th reunion.

The Brownstown Central High School Class of 1968 gathered for the 55th class reunion July 28 at the Brownstown Park shelter house.
A total of 66 attended, which included classmates and guests. Red and black tablecloths covered the tables with fresh-cut flowers in Brownstown Central red cups. There also were fresh-cut flowers in vases on the serving buffet and registration table.
Paul Hoevener welcomed the group, followed by Chris Peters giving the invocation. A buffet dinner prepared by the committee was served after appetizers.
After dinner, gag gifts were given to Gale Sommers, who traveled the farthest and received an Indiana map reminding him where his roots were; Janice Hallett, the classmate married the longest who won a box of Excedrin; Betty Peters, the classmate with the most grandchildren who received a flyswatter; and Gale Sommers, the healthiest classmate who received an apple.
A candle lantern on a stand centered the memorial table and was donated in memory of Denny Covert. It was surrounded by pictures of all of the deceased members of the class. Six classmates have died since the 50th class reunion, and the lantern was later given as a door prize to Martha Morgan.
The night completed with ’60s music and classmates visiting and reminiscing.
