Jay C to celebrate 160 years Friday at Seymour store

Jay C is celebrating 160 years serving southern Indiana customers and communities during this week’s anniversary celebration.

On Friday at the Seymour store at 1541 E. Tipton St., customers can enjoy local product samplings and special deals on the shelves as the company reveals a new history wall.

“It has been an honor to be part of the southern Indiana community for 160 years,” Jay C District Leader Ashley Johnson said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to celebrate with our customers and local vendors to spotlight the incredible communities and entrepreneurs. We know a milestone such as this is reached not only by our associates but our loyal customers who continue to shop with us. We appreciate their business.”

The first 100 customers in line by 8 a.m. will receive a $25 gift card.

To honor the anniversary celebration, Jay C will be making donations to a Jackson County school, Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry and Girls Inc. of Jackson County.

Jay C was founded in 1863 by Swiss immigrant John C. Groub with the first location in Seymour. Jay C is the oldest banner under the Kroger Family of Companies, acquired in 1999.

In Jackson County, there are two stores in Seymour and one in Brownstown.
