Helen Marie Anderson, age 82, of Brownstown, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Helen was a longtime member of Clearspring Baptist Church.

She was employed at Dura Automotive for over 30 years, and Helen was proud to be a breast cancer survivor.

Helen loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved watching them play sports. She enjoyed being outdoors, visiting the forestry, fishing, mowing, and camping. She also loved Brownstown Braves sports, especially watching firetrucks pass by her house after a Brownstown win, and she enjoyed watching I.U. basketball.

Born on June 17, 1941, in Jackson County, Helen was the daughter of Clyde and Minnie (Brown) Edwards, both of whom preceded her in death.

Survivors include two brothers: Floyd “Jr.” Edwards, and Wayne Dale Edwards; one sister, Velma Jackson; five grandchildren: Kevin (Libby) Arthur, Christin Bell, Ashley (Clint) Burcham, Hunter (Brittany) McElfresh, and Treyton McElfresh; and four great-grandchildren: Abby Arthur, Addison Burcham, Colt Burcham, and Gwendolyn Bell.

Helen was also preceded in death by two daughters: Trudy McElfresh, and Teresa Kintner; three brothers: Woodrow Edwards, Robert “Bob” Edwards, and Hershel “Short” Edwards; four sisters: Rosemary Beavers, Peggy Charles, Pauline Edwards, and Josephine Edwards; and her lifetime partner, Tom Scott.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at I.U. Health Hospice House and Hoosier Christian Village.

Funeral services for Helen Marie Anderson will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
