Seymour Area Farmers Market profile: Wonning Produce

The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Walnut Street Parking Lot located south of the railroad tracks near the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour.

The market also is open from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.

Where is your farm or business located?

Cortland. Honor system produce stand at 5875 E. County Road 875N, Seymour.

What items do you sell at the farmers market?

Watermelon, cantaloupe, sweet corn and tomatoes.

What made you want to start your business?

Enjoyment of being outside and working in the dirt. The awesome feeling of producing something so delicious from a little seed.

Where did you learn to produce your product?

Louis has had a lifetime of learning and working to be a better grower each season.

How long have you been producing the items you sell at the market?

This is the ninth season.

Do you do this full time or is this a side business/hobby?

Side business.

What about the farmers market makes it beneficial to you as a business?

It’s close to home, and we enjoy the time together as a family.

What do you enjoy about selling your goods locally?

We enjoy the customers and relationships we have developed. There is joy in getting fresh produce directly in the hands of the consumer.

Favorite items that you sell?

Who can deny any of it? We get excited for all of it.

What products from other vendors do you enjoy?

We enjoy a bit of it all — meat, flowers and baked goods.

Why do you think folks should shop at the farmers market?

Opportunity to get the freshest, best food for you and have an enjoyable morning out and about.
