The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to become advisory council members for The Salvation Army of Jackson County.

The current council is hoping to grow membership to increase services within the county.

Council members usually meet quarterly, and their main responsibilities are assisting Jackson County residents who are in need with funds raised during the annual Red Kettle Campaign.

Money raised by The Salvation Army of Jackson County stays in Jackson County and is used to assist those living in the county.Assistance includes help with utilities, medications, rent and other such needs. The Salvation Army serves the community during times of disasters, which include fires, tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters.

Gordon Hoag, southern regional liaison for the Indiana Division of The Salvation Army, said as the local advisory council grows, more services will be able to be offered. These include services that currently may be unmet.
