Norman man killed in crash in Jennings County

A Jackson County man died in a crash Sunday on U.S. 50 in eastern Jennings County, police report.

Terry Trowbridge, 50, of Norman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by an official with the Jennings County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release from Jennings County Officer Bill Carter.

Officers responding to the scene of the crash were directed by witnesses to an unresponsive male who had been ejected from a vehicle, Carter said.

Medical care was immediately administered to the driver, later identified as Trowbridge, but he was pronounced deceased a short time later, police reported.

Carter said according to witnesses, Trowbridge had been driving westbound on U.S. 50 and was attempting to pass another motorist at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then left the north side of the road and rolled several times.

Trowbridge was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and speed and aggressive driving are suspected to be factors in the crash, Carter said.

Personnel with Jennings County Emergency Medical Services and Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
