Verlin Jerry Warren, age 89, of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Warren was a life-time member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Jerry became employed with Mitchell & Stark following his graduation from high school. He retired as superintendent of the company after more than 50 years of employment.

Mr. Warren was a member of Washington Lodge No. 13 and the Elks.

Jerry loved his family dearly. He loved having conversations, Sunday dinners, and family get-togethers with his entire family. His grandchildren loved his famous pancakes. Jerry also had a passion for gardening, quail hunting, fishing, and tending to his beehives, and he enjoyed time in Florida with his wife, Harriett, and his friends.

Born on March 11, 1934, at his home in Owen Township, he was the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Hansome) Warren, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 25, 1954, at Brownstown First Baptist Church, he married Harriett Waskom, and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include one son, Timothy J. (Madge) Warren of Brownstown; two daughters: Teresa L. Brewer of Brownstown, and Tina L. (Steve) Brewer of Vallonia; six grandchildren: Joshua (Selena) Brewer, Bethany (J.L.) McElfresh, Leah (Ryan) Scott, Natasha (Brent) Wichman, Chris Warren, and Michael (Aila) Brewer; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters: Mary Jo Reinbold of Brownstown, and Carol Persinger of Brownstown.

Besides his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by two brothers: James Leroy Warren, and Ervin Warren; one grandson, Jonathon Brewer; and two brothers-in-law: Bill Reinbold, and Thomas Persinger, Jr.

Funeral services for Verlin Jerry Warren will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to Brown Elementary Natasha Wichman Classroom Education Fund.
