Owners: Jordan Prewitt, Jack Fish

Residence: Seymour

Where is your business located?

North side of Seymour in the Rockford area.

What items do you sell at the farmers market?

All things beard. Oil, balm, wax, butter, shampoo, conditioner, tattoo balm, vitamins and a large selection of merchandise.

What made you want to start your business?

Both of us have worked in the automotive repair industry for most of our adult lives. We were working on a customer’s vehicle back in January that was being a problem child. We talked about finding our way out of busting our knuckles. Thus HillJax was born.

How did you learn to produce your product?

Jordan is the brains behind all of our formulas and scent profiles. Jordan has spent hundreds of hours researching the best ingredients to promote a healthy beard.

How long have you been producing the items you sell at the market?

We started producing in January 2023.

Do you do this full time or is this a side business/hobby?

We both still currently work full time in the automotive industry. As many small business owners will tell you, it’s a full-time job on top of our full-time jobs.

What about the farmers market makes it beneficial to you as a business?

Exposure. As a small business, it’s hard to get your product in front of people, so we’re trying to get out in the community so people can find us. Our products speak for themselves, and we’ve had nothing but stellar reviews this far. The farmers market gives us that opportunity to get out shaking hands and introducing our products to those in the community.

What do you enjoy about selling at the market?

I love getting out and talking to those in the community. I enjoy picking things up from all of the other vendors. The whole market is full of fantastic vendors.

Of the items you sell, what is your favorite?

Personal favorite is our oil. The first step to a healthy beard is healthy skin beneath the beard. Our oil is made from all-natural oils. It has added vitamin E and Biotin to promote growth.

What products do you enjoy from other vendors?

Flowers, meats and spatulas are all things I’ve purchased from the market. There’s really something here for everyone. Excellent prices for all local products.

Why do you think people should shop at the farmers market?

Everyone should want to support local when you can. Get out and support your neighbors and the people who are giving back to the community.
