Medora hosting second fundraiser basketball game Saturday

It’s that time of year for Medora old-timers and not-so-old-timers to get their heads in the game.

On Saturday, the Medora High School Class of 1971 will host fundraiser basketball games that will feature Medora graduates from classes ranging from 1966 to 2000.

Admission is donations only, and proceeds will go toward the Medora athletic department.

Rayetta Franklin, a 1971 graduate of Medora, gathered with other members of her class last year to hold this fundraiser at the school.

The game raised $1,500 for the athletic department, and the money was used to buy equipment needed to live stream all of the games played at MHS.

This year, there will be two games at the school gymnasium called the old-timers and not-so-old-timers games.

The first game will be played by men who attended Medora school or graduated from Medora classes 1966 through 1976. The second game will feature men who attended or graduated from Medora from classes 1977 through 2000.

There also will be a surprise competition between the old-timers shooting free throws and the not-so-old-timers shooting 3-point shots in between the two games.

Doors will open at noon and the first game will start at 1 p.m. at the school, 82 S. George St., Medora. Concessions also will be available for purchase.

“These games will be very entertaining and fun to watch, all for a very worthwhile cause,” Franklin said.
