Crothersville Town Council presents award to local company

CROTHERSVILLE — A family-owned manufacturing company has been recognized for making a huge impact on the Crothersville landscape since breaking ground in the spring of 2019.

During a meeting Tuesday night at the town hall, the Crothersville Town Council presented Sims Bark with the certificate of appreciation for excellence in community service award for May.

The purpose of the award is to recognize a resident, a club, an organization or a business for being an outstanding citizen that goes above and beyond to give back to the community and help make Crothersville a great place to live.

“Since their groundbreaking, this manufacturing facility has invested millions of dollars in their operations and employs many Crothersville residents,” council President Jason Hillenburg said.

“This facility markets their products to many national retailers, such as Walmart, Lowe’s and Rural King,” he said. “During peak season, approximately 100 trucks are shipped daily. In addition to shipments, approximately 25 trucks per day of raw material are received by this facility from local suppliers for manufacturing purposes.”

As part of Sims Bark coming to Crothersville, the company offered $15,000 toward the town’s cost of supplying a sewer main to the east side of U.S. 31.

“Also, this facility donates annually to the Crothersville Youth League baseball program,” Hillenburg said. “They also are a huge advocate of United Way Day of Caring, Crothersville Community Schools and the town of Crothersville.”

A framed certificate was presented to company representative Matt Followell.

“Thank you for exemplifying positivity, dedication and generosity to this community,” Hillenburg said.
