Police investigating fatal wreck involving Jackson County resident

Scott County police are seeking information about a wreck in which a Jackson County resident died.

According to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Stagecoach Road in western Scott County in reference to a serious automobile crash.

Upon arrival, deputies found a white 2017 Mitsubishi passenger car on its roof with damage to the front and top of the vehicle.

First responders were on the scene tending to the driver, who was later pronounced dead by Scott County Deputy Coroner Tim Hall. The next of kin notification is being conducted and will be released by the Scott County Coroner’s Office.

First Sgt. Johnney Coomer of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene by Lt. Col. Joe Guarneri and Chief Deputy Toby Deaton.

The investigation revealed the single vehicle involved in the crash left the roadway and overturned upon striking a ditch line embankment. No other vehicles were involved.

Firefighters and first responders from the Finley and Scottsburg fire departments also assisted officers at the scene.
