Interstate work set next week in Jackson, Scott counties

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving Inc. plans to begin work next week in preparation of two bridge deck overlay projects that include structures on Interstate 65 in Scott and Jackson counties.

Drivers can expect lane closures, speed reductions and width restrictions while work is in progress.

Lane closures will be nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday, weather permitting, between mile marker 34 (Austin) and mile marker 36 (Austin/Crothersville) at the Muscatatuck River bridge and between mile marker 41 (Uniontown) and mile marker 49 (near Seymour) at the Mutton Creek bridge.

Preliminary work will include shoulder strengthening and lane crossovers for future phases of construction. All preliminary work is expected to be complete by June. The bridge deck overlays are anticipated to begin at the beginning of July.

The contract was awarded to E&B Paving in March for $14 million.

INDOT encourages drivers to consider worker safety by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when traveling in and around all work zones.
