Jennings County High School presenting ‘Oklahoma’

NORTH VERNON — The Jennings County High School music department will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school’s auditorium.

The show is a student-run production, and each area of production has an adult who mentors the students in their respective crew. Come the nights of the performances, adults step back and hand the reins over for the students to take control.

Set designs are built by the building trades classes at Jennings County High School and the National Art Honor Society.

The show is under the direction of Lindsey Frey, who is in her second year as director of choirs at Jennings County High School after serving in the role at Jennings County Middle School for seven years. Frey is an alumnus of the Jennings County High School music department, graduating in 2000.

Frey is working with two student directors, senior Evan Cofer and freshman Elliot Holman. Cofer will be running the show from backstage as the stage manager, while Holman will be helping to call the lighting and sound cues from front of the house.

Cast members include Hannah Webster, Bryson Webster, Kaitlyn Davies, Max Maschino, Kaiser Daeger, Macie Voss, Vincent Pittman, Gracie Patterson, Clay Sullivan, Kamron Carney, Sam Burkman, Connor Waldo, Patryk Young, Alli Caudill, Emma Grider, Marina Reynolds, Aida Kovacich, Josie Campell, Alyssa Wiederhold and Olivia Huey.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for those not yet in school but would require their own seat. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by going to jenningscountychoirs.com. Tickets also will be available to purchase the evenings of the show.
