Braves roll at Scottsburg

The Brownstown boys basketball team picked up a 71-48 victory on the road at Scottsburg on Friday night.

Jack Benter led the Braves in scoring with 27 points, followed by Colby Hall with 15, Chase Coomer had 11, Parker Hehman nine, Adam Stahl four, Jakob Arthur three and Carson Darlage two.

Brownstown is now 4-1 this season and 2-0 in Mid-Southern Conference play.

The Braves will be right back in action later tonight at home against Madison. JV starts at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.

Cougars get first win

The Trinity Lutheran boys basketball team got its first win of the season at Southwestern (Shelby) on Friday night, 59-42.

Luke Coomler and Levi Pottschmidt led the Cougars in scoring with 15 points apiece. Eli Ballard scored six, Charlie Hackman had five, Josh Conrad had five, Kowan Gross four, Kole Shewmaker three, Peyton Pollert three, Levi Froedge two and Evan Christopher one.

The Cougars are now 1-3 this season and will be back home tonight for a game against West Washington inside Bollinger Athletic Complex.

Owls fall at Jeffersonville

The Seymour boys basketball team is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 53-38 at Jeffersonville on Friday night.

“We got off to a very slow start,” Seymour head coach Kirk Manns said on the radio after the game. “I thought we did a good job of fighting, and we missed several easy shots. The free throws and the shots, those are correctable.”

Landon Fritsch led the Owls in scoring with 14 points on the night. Jaylan Johnson scored seven points, Bret Perry had six, Josh Rennekamp had six, Eli Meyer scored four points and Charlie Longmeier had one.

Manns said he was concerned with the effort on the defensive end, but he was happy with the way Seymour defended the Red Devils on Friday.

Seymour is now 0-5 this season and now 0-1 in the Hoosier Hills Conference.

The Owls will have now have eight days off before taking on Jennings County on the road next Saturday.
