Immanuel Ladies Aid 3 met Nov. 15 at the church with 19 members present.

Hostesses for the evening were Sue Foster, Janis Mundt and Sandy Waskom using a Thanksgiving theme.

The meeting was opened with singing of Hymn 806 “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart” and reciting of Psalm 103 verses 1-4.

Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez opened the meeting with prayer and a devotional of Thanksgiving. He stressed we should try to continue with a thankful heart not just on this day but every day, even when we sometimes as humans experience a lack of contentment and spirit.

He noted Sarah Hale was a writer who reinvented Thanksgiving by convincing President Abraham Lincoln to declare the fourth Thursday in November as a day of thanks and unification. In 1941, Congress set aside this day as a national holiday.

President Sandee Helwig opened the business meeting. Committee reports consisted of several visits to area nursing homes. Reports were given regarding the successful arts and crafts show held at the school recently, and Helwig and Mary Jan Koop were thanked for their leadership in this endeavor.

A new constitution and bylaws were distributed, as they were recently amended. Sign-up sheets for 2023 committees were passed. It was announced plans are in progress for the Christmas party to be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at the church.

The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
