Jeffrey “Jeff” Alan Netser, age 68, of Seymour, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born in Sigourney, Iowa, on March 14, 1954 to Vonda Netser and the late Mervin Netser. He gradated from Logansport High School in 1972. On April 8, 1978 he married his wife Julie in the chapel of Butler University, Indianapolis, and they were happily married for 44 years. They raised two wonderful children, Dan and Erin. Jeff was so proud of them!
Jeff and his wife Julie had a passion for competing in chili cook offs all over the nation for over 40 years. Jeff’s highlight of this hobby came on October 2005, when he was chosen as the World Champion in Chili Verde.
Jeff was a member of Seymour Moose Lodge 418 and the Columbus Moose Lodge 398. He was a longtime member of The International Chili Society and the CASI organization, the two sanctioning bodies in the chili cook off world.
Jeff started his career in computer programming with Paul Harris Stores, Indianapolis and finished his career at JayC Food Stores, Seymour, where he retired in 2017 after 29 years. From that time forward he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.
Jeff is survived by his wife Julie, his children Dan Netser (Shawna), daughter Erin Handt (Jerry). Grandchildren Sarah Dobson (Kahlier), Tyler Arnold, Kaitlyn Netser and Jack Netser. Step great grandson, Kolten Dobson, a great grandson, due in January of 2023. His Mother, Vonda Netser and siblings. Steve Netser (Diana), Sheila Wildermuth (Bob), Cindy Parkevich (Mike), Brad Netser (Maryann) also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Mervin, his Mother-In-Law, Barbara Long, his Father-In-Law, Don Sickle, his Maternal Grandparents, Arnold and Fern Grimm and Paternal Grandparents, Patsy and Zephyr Netser.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation was selected and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
