Seymour man arrested for having sex with minor

A months-long investigation into reports that a 21-year-old Seymour man had sex with a minor led to his arrest Monday, police report.

Juan Pascal-Gaspar was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 2:29 p.m. Monday on two charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, both Level 5 felonies. He was being held without bond pending his initial hearing.

Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster said in a news release that officers received information Feb. 16 that a male, identified as Pascual-Gaspar, had had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female in June 2021. At the time, Pascual-Gaspar was 20, police said.

Police searched numerous locations for Pascual-Gaspar over the last several months and had been unsuccessful in finding him, Foster said.

On Aug. 22, police received information about his whereabouts, and Monday, Pascual-Gaspar was interrogated by police. He admitted to having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old on at least two occasions, Foster said.
